Dwight Veenman – Youth Ministry

My goal is to make it easier for you to prepare Sunday School Lessons and Youth Group activities for your own kids or local Church  ministry

I am a Christian parent of 3 school aged children,  and I just want to teach my kids the truth of the Bible and serve where I can in the youth ministry.

Like you, I have spent a lot of time looking for the “path of least resistance” that would allow me to relax while someone else taught my kids all they really need to know. Because in my nature I was lazy, I tended to sit back and just hope that my kids just picked up the right habits from our family life, Church teachers and their peers.

Now whilst it is true that what you do is much more important than what you say…the Bible does implore us to be active in training our kids

Teach them his decrees and instructions, and show them the way they are to live and how they are to behave” Ex 18:20 NIV.

You are responsible for leading them and teaching them

Train a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not turn from it” – Proverbs 22:6 NIV

So I decided my family was going to make a decision, we would choose life…!

We would have regular family devotionals and learn together about God’s will for our lives.

I tried to come up with my own lessons and teach from my kids own adventure Bible. I looked for free content on the web, but unfortunately, it was frankly a bit hard to find anything that went beyond to tried and true word search for school kids or coloring sheets for pre-schoolers.

Then I discovered that there was really good quality help out there and I decided I wanted to make it easier for other people to get access to the tools and resources that are already out there! I want to make it easier for families to help prepare their own  family devotionals or Sunday School lessons or Youth Ministry.

In the past I had often found it difficult and even stressful preparing Sunday School lessons for kids. I also use to feel guilty that I was anxious and not excited about teaching. What should have been looked upon as a blessing seemes to me in fact to be a “chore”. 🙄

Because I was often unprepared and my classes did not run smoothly as a result. As a results I ended up not looking forward to the next lesson, which led to a reluctance to prepare! Can you see where this was leading……..

Does any of this ring true for you? If so then take heart!

Things can change!

First, it helps to get some guidance as to how to  prepare and be given some ideas of how to handle different situations.I have access now to a whole lot of resources and find it a whole lot easier to prepare for class. Perhaps your own church youth ministry has lots of great resources and you only need one little extra thing to help. Well, sometimes that’s all you need and I hope you’ll find it here on RaisingFaithFilledKids.com

If I find something cool and helpful I will post it up here so you can see it too! If I teach a lesson that seems to resonates with the kids I will put a lesson guide up here so you can teach it too. If you have a great tip or lesson idea just let me know and I may well put it up here too!

Many of these resources are free and some you need to purchase. But if it’s on RaisingFaithFilledKids.com then I’ve used it myself and it’s worked for me and my family!

 Until next time
