Do you need some Christian Parenting help?

Would you like tools to make Christian Parenting easier?

As a Christian parent of 3 school aged children I want to make sure I give my kids every opportunity to grow in their faith and have success in school and life. I want my kids to be themselves and to love their lives, but I know that it’s up to me to take responsibility to teach them the right way.

But shouldn’t I be able to figure this stuff out myself?

Whilst I’m doing my best to raise them to understand the truth of the Bible and help them to grow, sometimes I need a little Christian parenting help along the way. I’ve found lessons and advice that I’ve been able to use myself. Some of these resources are Bible based and some are just plain common sense. I want to share with you some of the things that you’ll be able to use in your own home and that I’m confident will compliment your own faith.

Why does life seem to be getting in the way?

We seem to be so busy these days with important stuff that the days just fly by and there’s never enough time to do the things we want to do. In the end we can leave it up to other people to teach our kids values instead of getting in there and doing it ourselves. 🙄

Our goal is to pass on our values to our kids through our actions and also through our teaching.

Teach them his decrees and instructions, and show them the way they are to live and how they are to behave” Ex 18:20 NIV.

So why is this seem so hard to do, even when we have good intentions?

The truth is that unless we take action and make it happen, nothing is actually going to change. It’s so easy to put a lower priority on our kids faith than on other more visible things like getting them up, fed, clothed and off to school and then off to bed before we do it all again!

I know. I’m the one doing it each day!

The problem is that once they’re out of the house we can’t really help them can can we!  We need to make the most of every opportunity because it’s important!

So what can I do?

Start right away to give your kids a grounding in your family values by having regular family devotional times. This can be a fun time, a time of sharing or a time where you set out to teach your kids something specific. You simply have to make a decision to schedule a regular time with the kids, and the rest will then follow.

Are these Bible based tools?

I’ve looked and there are great resources out there specifically for Sunday School and Youth Group. Of course they’re based on scripture. There’s less available for Christian parenting. I’ve found some lessons and biblical encouragement for parents, but for more advanced programs they’re not specifically Bible based.

Is this stuff compatible with my faith?

These programs I’ve reviewed or uses myself have proven to me to be compatible with my own Christian parenting beliefs. They are not specific to any denomination, nor are they specific to any particular faith. You will have to see them for what they are – tools. Their purpose is to equip you and empower you to teach your kids what you already know to be right and to do God’s will. If it’s here I’ve used it and can recommend it to you.

It reminds me of an old joke I’m sure you’ve probably heard before.

After a horrible flood, the waters rose so high that one man was forced to climb onto the roof of his house.

As the waters rose higher and higher, a man in a rowboat appeared, and told him to get in.

“No,” replied the man on the roof. “I have faith in the Lord; the Lord will save me.”

The waters rose higher and higher, and a speedboat appeared. “Climb in!” shouted a man in the boat. “No,” replied the man on the roof. “I have faith in the Lord; the Lord will save me.”

The waters continued to rise. A helicopter appeared and the pilot announced over the loudspeaker that he would lower a rope to the man on the roof.

“No,” replied the man on the roof. “I have faith in the Lord; the Lord will save me.”

Eventually, the waters rose so high that the man on the roof was washed away and soon drowned.

When he arrived in heaven, the man marched straight over to God.

“Heavenly Father,” he said, “I had faith in you, I prayed to you to save me, and yet you did nothing. Why?” God gave him a puzzled look, and replied “I sent you two boats and a helicopter, what more did you expect?”

Sometime there are tools and help available to you right now that might not be what you’re first looking for.
